Sept 22nd: Bearfort Ridge via Surprise Lake:
Bearfort Ridge is one the Highlands classics, it features splendid views and scenic lakes. Our itinerary will take us up Mount Laurel for 360° views, and along the side of Surprise Lake. The trail is moderately challenging with some steeper climbing and a short scramble over a rocky section.
Oct 13th: Historical Jockey Hollow:
This will be a short guided with a focus on putting the New Jersey Highlands into historical context, with particular reference to the role this region played during the Revolution. The walk will start from the Visitor Center, and proceed through the Park to the Soldiers huts, a very easy trail with the option to walk on the road adjacent. Join us afterwards for the Hopped Up Highlands Morristown Pub Crawl & Scavenger Hunt!
Oct 20th: Norvin Green State Forest:
Located in the heart of the Highlands, Norvin Green offers a variety of hikes with outstanding views and the opportunity to take in the spectacular fall colors. Our itinerary will cover about 6.5 miles and include Lake Sonoma and Overlook Rock with the possibility of extending to Wyanokie Point if participants would like. The trails here are well maintained but do involve a fair amount of climbing.
