BCAWS is a grassroots alliance of residents from Bloomsbury and Greenwich Township working together to protect our rural neighborhoods, farmland & the Musconetcong river valley from industrial warehouse sprawl.
Our Goal:
To STOP The Tinsley development that includes a 185,000-square-foot warehouse on a steep hillside in Greenwich Township, just above the Musconetcong River. The facility is across from Bloomsbury’s residential neighborhood with over 139 private Bloomsbury residences, and a school within the project 1000 ft impact zone. This mega-facility threatens our environment, our homes and our community’s future.
Why We Oppose It:
- • Environmental Harm: The nature of this project is too close to the Musconetcong, a nationally recognized Wild and Scenic River. Increased water runoff, soil erosion and truck pollutants will threaten the waterway.
- • Light and Noise Pollution: A huge industrial facility on the hilltop means non-stop lights and noise projecting from property. This will have a direct impact on surrounding residents’ health, welfare and safety.
- • Truck Traffic Overload: The area around the site is already over-saturated with large truck traffic. Tractor trailers constantly wander onto insufficient roads and bridges looking to avoid the weigh station while local residents deal with crushed curbs, damaged walls and dangerous traffic.
- • A Dangerous Precedent: The project will open the door to more warehouse sprawl on farmland, steep slopes and too close to riverbanks.
