Join NJHC volunteer Neil Weiss on a moderately difficult 4.5 mile hike at a relaxed pace at Pyramid Mountain on Sunday, March 26. Pyramid Mountain is one of the most iconic parks in the Morris County Parks system, one of the top 10 hikes in New Jersey, and a must-do on anyone’s bucket list!
This hike will set off from the visitor center down the blue trail. After a short but steep climb, hikers will be rewarded with a view of the Taylortown Reservoir.
The highlight of this hike will be Tripod Rock: a massive out-of-place erratic boulder balanced on three smaller rocks which has puzzled visitors ever since it was left behind in the last glacial period thousands of years ago.
We will meet at 9:00am in the Pyramid Mountain Visitor Center parking lot on Boonton Avenue, Montville, NJ 07045 (GPS coordinates at 40.946884, -74.387968). This location is popular and the lot fills up quickly, so please be on time! Car pooling is recommended!
Space is limited and registration is required. When filling out the form, please only register one person at a time.
