Press Release: North Jersey Environmental Groups Announce 5th Annual Northwest New Jersey Rivers Conference in Hackettstown on September 30


BOONTON, MAY 3, 2023 – Registration is now open for the 2023 Northwest New Jersey Rivers Conference held at Centenary University in Hackettstown on September 30. Now entering its fifth year, the annual Rivers Conference connects community, ecotourism and the environment in the Delaware River watershed in northwestern New Jersey. It highlights the importance of water, recreation, and other natural and cultural resources in contributing to the quality of life for people who live in and visit the region.

On the 25th anniversary of the Governor’s Report on the New Jersey Outdoors, the Fifth Annual Rivers Conference revisits the state’s commitment to preserving 1 million acres of open space and funding a stable source of funding for its stewardship and enhancement. The Conference

presents twelve workshops led by local scientists, government officials, planners, nonprofit leaders and other environment and policy professionals. Workshops are organized into tracks focused on Latest Trends in Planning, Challenges and Opportunities, Recreation and Open Space and History.

The Conference welcomes individuals and organizations interested in attending the workshops or participating as table vendors. It is open to all ages, backgrounds and professions interested in the environment and planning in New Jersey. Students, early career professionals and small grassroots organizations are strongly encouraged to attend. Tickets are $30 to attend and $60 for table space. An early bird discount of $10 is available until July 17. Scholarships are available for those who cannot afford the price of admission. Information and tickets are available at
